A mastopexy, or breast lift, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape and lift deflated and aged breasts. As women age, factors such as pregnancy, nursing, weight fluctuations, and gravity can cause the breasts to lose their youthful shape and firmness. A breast lift can help restore a more attractive, uplifted breast contour.
Ideal candidates are non-smoking patients in good health who are done breastfeeding and have aesthetic concerns with their breasts due to aging, pregnancy, nursing, weight loss, or gravity. Patients often complain about their breasts being asymmetric, deflated, nipples that point downward or fall below the breast crease, stretched skin and enlarged areolas.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia to ensure your comfort. - Incisions
The surgeon will make incisions on your breasts, the pattern of which will depend on the degree of lift required and your individual anatomy. Common incision patterns include around the areola, vertically down from the areola to the breast crease, and horizontally along the breast crease. - Reshaping
The underlying breast tissue is reshaped and lifted to improve breast contour and firmness. The nipple and areola are repositioned to a more youthful position. If necessary, enlarged areolas are reduced by excising skin at the perimeter. - Excess skin removal
The surgeon removes excess, stretched skin to create a tighter, more defined breast shape. - Closing the incisions
The remaining skin is tightened and the incisions are closed with layered sutures. - Results
The results of your breast lift will be immediately visible, with final results settling over the next few months as swelling subsides and incision lines fade. With proper care and a healthy lifestyle, the results of your breast lift can last for many years.
