Teach Me: Brow Lift Incisions
Today we're breaking down a few of the most common brow lift procedures and helping you understand which approach might be right for you.
Four Ways to Lift the Brow
1. Coronal Brow Lift
Incision from ear to ear over the top of the head, hidden in the hair-bearing scalp.
2. Temporal Brow Lift
Smaller incisions hidden behind the hairline at the temples.
3. Pretrichial Brow Lift
Incision placed right at the hairline where hair meets forehead.
4. Direct Brow Lift
Incision hidden right above the eyebrow.
My Two Favorite Approaches
Each technique serves a different patient, but here are the two I recommend most often:
Coronal Brow Lift - Best for Short Foreheads
If you have a short forehead, the coronal approach is ideal because:
- Scar is hidden deep in the hair
- Removes hair-bearing skin to lengthen the forehead
- Lifts brows to a more youthful position
- Creates better facial proportions
Pretrichial Brow Lift - Best for Long Foreheads
If your forehead is too long, the pretrichial approach works beautifully:
- Removes non-hair-bearing skin to shorten the forehead
- Lifts the brows while maintaining ideal forehead length
- Creates balanced, natural proportions
Why Technique Matters
The right approach depends on your unique anatomy. During your consultation, we'll assess your brow position, forehead length, hairline placement, and aesthetic goals to determine the best method for you.
